I started my career in the music industry in the 1980s, touring globally and launching the world’s first interactive single during the shift from analogue to digital. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was already doing go to market work, navigating audiences, positioning value, and aligning stakeholders without a playbook. Like many PMMs, I fell into the role before I ever had the title.

When I moved into formal PMM roles, first in media, then tech, I noticed something important. Where others struggled with ambiguity, I thrived. Where others executed tasks, I focused on clarity, trade offs, and value. That’s what led me to roles at Virgin, then Microsoft, where I spent 12 years launching and scaling Xbox globally. Not because I worked harder, but because I learned how to make decisions visible and trusted.

Over the next decade, I built and scaled PMM teams across multiple tech categories, and that’s when the pattern became impossible to ignore. Talented PMMs weren’t failing. They were delivering strong work, but their impact wasn’t landing. They were stuck not on skills, but on judgment, influence, executive communication, and navigating ambiguity without cover.

When I joined Product Marketing Alliance in 2019, first as Expert in Residence, later as VP, my focus became clear. PMMs didn’t need more frameworks. They needed help thinking, deciding, and showing up in the moments that shape trust and trajectory. Since then, I’ve trained and coached over 800 product marketers worldwide, helping them turn execution into influence.
